Here for a print of this painting

Sea Fever by John Masefield

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky...

This is a requested pic for someone no longer with us. (He didn't ask for it - someone alive asked for it. jus sayin) I've pasted in the accompanying poem. I love this poem but it does make me well up a bit.
The poem is called Sea Fever and is by John Masefield; the pic is by me and is called '...the lonely sea and the sky...'

Really cool surf dudes - labrador retriever dogs take to the waves

Some new cards - from a watercolor painting titled: 'Really cool surf dudes'.

Three Labrador dogs take to the waves. They're really cool surf dudes. However, one of them is REALLY, really cool - he sips his cocktail while behind him his two friends provide the board show.

Happy Birthday, Beryl!!!

Well - we had to use Beryl as our excuse to post this pic, '...the lonely sea and the sky...' (and declaim the following poem - one of our favorites)

Monty, sitting on haunches, one paw on chest, the other out to the sky, in a rising woof of excitement, recites:

"Sea-Fever"

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

By John Masefield (1878-1967).
(English Poet Laureate, 1930-1967.)
